Wind Quintet No. 1
Wind Quintet No. 1 was written for the UNLV Chamber Music Composition Competition directed by Nextet and The Red Rock Wind Quintet. I originally set out to write a piece that was completely uncharacteristic of anything I had ever written. This was my first time attempting to write for any professionals and I wanted to completely take advantage of virtuosity: the tenacity and aggressiveness. This piece features many virtuosic passages in all parts and many meter changes that requires machine like chamber precision to execute. This piece pays homage to the works of Igor Stravinsky, David Maslanka, J.S Bach, and Manuel Ponce.
This piece has not yet been premiered with a group yet. So if your group is interested in playing this, contact me and I would love to join you in the process of putting this piece together!
