Eric On is a horn player from Las Vegas, Nevada, currently based in Tallahassee, Florida. He holds a Master of Music in Horn Performance from Florida State University, where he studied with Michelle Stebleton and served as a Horn Graduate Assistant. During his time at Florida State, Eric performed with the University Opera Orchestra, University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, New Music Ensemble Polymorphia, and Graduate Brass Quintet. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he studied composition with Diego Vega, Jennifer Bellor, and Viet Cuong. His horn teachers have included Bill Bernatis, Chris Castellanos, and Beth Lano.
As an active performer, Eric works across orchestral, chamber, and educational settings. He currently serves as Principal Horn of the Ocala Symphony and Acting Assistant Principal Horn of the Tallahassee Symphony. He is also a regular performer in the Las Vegas area, appearing with ensembles such as the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, and Henderson Symphony. In Florida, he has performed as a substitute horn player with ensembles including the New World Symphony, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, and Gainesville Orchestra.
Eric’s recent achievements include receiving the top prize in the International Horn Society Premier Solo Horn Competition in 2025. In 2026, he founded the Aurum Horn Quartet, which went on to win the Horn Quartet Competition at the Southeast Horn Conference. He has also received scholarships and fellowships to attend festivals including the National Music Festival, Prague Summer Nights, and the Boston Brass Chamber Intensive.
In addition to performing, Eric is committed to education and mentorship. He runs a consultation service for brass players of all ages, helping musicians prepare for performances, auditions, and long-term artistic growth. Previously, he worked as a horn coach with the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and Keyes Conservatory. His students have earned placements in NMEA All-State ensembles, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra, and the YoungArts Music Competition. They have also received scholarships to institutions including the University of Nevada, Reno; the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Florida State University; and the University of Arizona.
Outside of music, Eric enjoys hiking, traveling, and caring for his many fish tanks and guinea pigs.
