Postcard was written for my great friend and flautist, Julia Kim, as a parting gift as we embarked back to into Zoom School of Music East and West Coast. The piece opens with a mysterious looming intro section followed by a development of the opening themes. Suddenly the piece snaps into a reference to the main melody of "Julie-O". The piece undergoes a fantasy format with being a dance with multiple groove changes. A slow chorale as a recapitulation to the opening is throw in, with subsequently a flurry of notes into one flashy ending. A nice little opener or encore for any performance!
